If you’re looking for affordable accommodation in Auckland or the Waikato, in particular for a group, then staying at a boarding school might just be the answer. There are several schools to choose from, each with different features and benefits. World Masters Games 2017 runs concurrently with the New Zealand school holidays, so students will be offsite at the time of your stay.Please note that rooms are available on a first come first served basis and a deposit will usually be required. Epsom Girls Grammar School

Epsom Girls Grammar School is a public boarding school located centrally in Epsom, and is within walking distance to regular transport links to the city centre just 5km away. The school has 140 beds on offer across several houses, and all are single rooms. The minimum group size is 15. Rates start at $91.30 pp/pn (ex GST) and include an individual room, linen, bedding, breakfast and an evening meal – more details on prices can be found here. There are common areas in most houses. St Cuthbert’s College

St Cuthbert’s College is a private school located centrally in Epsom, and is within walking distance to regular transport links to the city centre just 5km away. There are 125 beds spreads across single rooms, double rooms and dorms. Prices vary according to the inclusions; $105 pp/pn (bed, linen, towels, breakfast, packed lunch and dinner) or $65 pp/pn with additional costs for linen and meals. School facilities such as squash and tennis courts, and the swimming pool, can also be booked at an additional, discounted rate. There are shared common lounge rooms and basic kitchens (fridge, microwave, toaster etc) available for use. St Cuthbert's is close to some of the WMG2017 venues such as badminton, table tennis, lawn bowls, archery and sprint orienteering. Rooms are available from 17-30 April. St Peter's Cambridge, Waikato

If you're a rower or track cyclist in need of accommodation, there are dorms available at St Peter’s School just moments from the Waikato venues. Prices are $40-$50 pp/pn including linen, and meals are also available for a small additional cost. Minimum booking is for 10 people. This is a great option that provides affordable accommodation close to the rowing and track cycling action. Diocesan 

Diocesan is a private school located centrally in Epsom, and is within walking distance to regular transport links to the city centre just 5km away. Diocesan offers 'home-style' accommodation with 55 beds split over three well presented villas. Only one booking per house is possible and a minimum of a 70% occupancy per house is required. The house names and sizes are Innes (31), Ngaire (13) and Erin (9). Each house has the great benefit of a full kitchen and lounge area. Prices are NZ$60 -$70 pp/pn and linen is included. Breakfast is available at $7.50 pp and needs to be pre booked. Rooms are available from 17-28 April. Kings College

King’s College is a private boarding school located in a park like setting in Otahuhu, South Auckland. It is 20-minutes drive from Auckland Airport and 20 minutes drive from central Auckland and located close to public transport links into the city centre. The sports facilities are of excellent quality and include a heated pool, tennis and squash courts, basketball court, hockey turf, athletics track, fitness centre, weights room, archery range and sports fields. Note that currently accommodation is only available to large groups with a minimum size of 50 and is subject to whether a house is available at the time of enquiry. Rates are $120-$150 pp/pn and include a bed, linen, access to sports facilities, cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rooms are available between 19 and 30 April 2017. Te Hana Te Ao Marama Maori Cultural Centre

Te Hana Te Ao Marama Maori Cultural Centre is located 1.5hr from Auckland CBD, and 50 minutes from Albany Sports Stadium. Offering a unique Maori cultural setting, the Marae can sleep up to 50 people. In accordance with Marae traditions, guests sleep on separate mattresses arranged inside the carpeted comfort of the Marae and will be offered a full traditional Maori welcome (Powhiri) on arrival. This accommodation is only available to ONE group and the group must be a minimum size of 30. Guests must bring their own blankets or sleeping bag (mattress, sheets, pillows supplied). Rates are $35pp/pn or $90pp/pn incl dinner and breakfast and there are café and bar facilities onsite. Marae available from 18 April to 1 May 2017.
