Basketball Capacity

The Basketball competition is nearing capacity within the A, B and Open Grades. When registering, if your desired age category is not available please register your interest via the waitlist. If space becomes available, organisers will contact you directly.​

Please note that even though capacity has almost been reached, members can still join existing teams via the normal registration process. If you are an individual looking to find a team, we encourage you to use the 'Find a Team/Partner' thread on the WMG2017 Community

Registration Close Date

Athlete registrations for World Masters Games 2017 close 3 March 2017 (NZT). You must register by this date if you plan to compete in the Games. Note that disciplines/events will close early if they reach capacity as numbers are strictly limited.

3 March 2017 is also the date by which teams must be registered and have met their minimum athlete numbers including essential non-playing official roles. Team minimums vary by sport and information is detailed in the Sports Information Guide for each sport.

Additional team members over and above team minimums can continue to join existing teams until 31 March 2017 however a late entry fee of $50 will apply.

This will be updated regularly as further information comes to hand. Team draws will be confirmed closer to Games time once registrations have closed all teams are confirmed in the competition.

Proposed Age Categories

A Grade (Premier) - Men and Women: 30+, 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+

B Grade (Competitive) - Men and Women: 30+, 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+

C Grade (Recreational) - Men and Women: 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+

Open Grade - Men and Women: 65+, 70+, 75+

The age category you will compete in for Basketball will be determined as at 31 December 2017.

For teams, the category you compete in is based on the age of the youngest team member.

For example, if your youngest team member is 39 during Games time but has turned 40 by 31 December 2017, you would compete in the 40+ age category.
